About the Artist

Lee Anne Meeks is a lighting artist and theatermaker based in New York. Trained primarily as a lighting designer but also as a director and playwright, Lee Anne is especially interested in non-traditional theatermaking that blurs these categories, allowing for horizontal collaboration between artists. Her work as a devised theatre collaborator informs her work as a designer and vice versa.

Lee Anne is a founding member of Meat Rascals, an all-fem-aligning, non-hierarchical ensemble that devises hybrid and interactive performance projects. In 2017, she received her BA in Drama from Vassar College, where she is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Lighting Design. She completed her MFA in Lighting Design at Indiana University where she received the Gary Gaiser Award in Theatre and Drama.
